This Christmas will twinkle

The new festive lights are currently being installed across the parish in preparation of the Christmas season. Not all of them are in place just yet, but the new range, purchased by the Parish Council earlier this year, should be on their correct columns by the 18 of November.

The Parish Council has also received confirmation that the two Christmas trees it has ordered, one for Rishworth and one for Ripponden, will be installed after Remembrance Sunday, and all three trees, including the permanent fir tree at Barkisland, will be decorated with festive lighting.

We understand there has been a lot of confusion over festive lights and trees this year in light of Calderdale Council’s announcement that it will no longer subsidise the cost of festive decorations.

We would like to reassure residents that the Parish Council will now fund the cost of festive lighting on street columns across the parish and will also fund the Christmas tree provision for Ripponden and Rishworth, and the decoration of the tree in Barkisland, in the years to come.
